Pre-Mortal Life (Part 2)

As was pointed out in Pre-Mortal Life (Part 1) many had arrived at a very advanced stage. We very rarely consider that we may return from our mortal experience less than we were before we came here. President Lorenzo Snow suggests that we need to secure the position that we held in pre-mortal life and then add to it our experience here.

I have not the least idea that I would be here today talking to you, unless it was distinctly understood in that life that when I came into this I would be obedient to the will of God as it should be revealed. Of course, we have forgotten these things; but the Lord is beginning to illuminate our understandings and is bringing to our recollection certain things in regard to how we were there, and for what we have come into this world. What you and I now want to know is how to secure the position we occupied in the other life when we go back, and that which will naturally be added to us in consequence of the experience that w had in this life; for the Lord has told us that those who would keep their second estate, glory should be added upon their heads forever and ever. It seems to me that no man or woman can afford to do anything in this life only that which, directly or indirectly, will be in conformity to the will of God. (12 May 1894, DW, 48:637.) Lorenzo Snow, The Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, edited by Clyde J. Williams, p. 91

Alma teaches us that some were called and prepared before the earth was created. They had used their agency to choose good and exercised exceeding faith. This group appears to be the same group that Abraham referred to has being noble and great in Abraham 3:22-24.

Alma 13:3
3 And this is the manner after which they were ordained--being called and prepared from the foundation of the world according to the foreknowledge of God, on account of their exceeding faith and good works; in the first place being left to choose good or evil; therefore they having chosen good, and exercising exceedingly great faith, are called with a holy calling, yea, with that holy calling which was prepared with, and according to, a preparatory redemption for such.

Good reminder of what we knew, and the glory that was set aside to come here and do the will of the Father
